(The) Enlightened Economy is linked to a Non Profit Organisation : Economía Consciente (www.economiaconsciente.org). The purpose of this page, blog and of the original organization is to promote new models of the economy, with new ways of thinking about business, profit and leadership. The basic tenet is that our current economic model DOES NOT WORK in large part. A massive amount of jobs and business practices do not promote well-being or physical/spiritual health. The Enlightened Economy principles start with the individual. A person in harmony with himself/herself, with a balanced, healthy and positive outlook on the world is in a good position to inspire others. This "interior" work is an important starting point. An organization working within the Enlightened Economy will be focused on the individuals and their wellbeing. The purpose of the organization will extend well beyond the profit motive , and will aim for many other "bottom lines": The engagement and benefit for the stakeholders, in relationships of trust and support. Respect for the environment and a focus on sustainability. Fiscal, corporate and community responsibility. Within a systemic vision of the world, every single component is important and contributes to the collective outcome. Within the Enlightened Economy viewpoint, the bigger picture is always crucial but it is defined by the detail. Two very negative consequences are often derived where power and money become focal points. The Enlightened economy works to promote a human/humane concept of leadership, which requires doses of humility and tolerance, avoiding the corrupting influence of greed and the dehumanizing impact of the narcissistic personality syndrome. If individuals can perceive their own talents and skills, if the organization can tap into these, the combined effect of people fulfilling their potential, knowing they can "make a difference" with a supportive "learning" atmosphere...all leads to an unstoppable force.
